John Hopper, MD, DFASAM, FAAP, FACP, co-presenter
John Hopper, MD, DFASAM, FAAP, FACP graduated from the Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed residency in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, where he served as Co-Chief Resident in Pediatrics. He is triple board certified in Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. From 1994 to 2005 he served on the faculty at Wayne State, and was medical director for psychiatry’s Research Division on Substance Abuse. From 2005 to 2008, Dr. Hopper served as Chief Medical Officer at Brighton Hospital in Brighton, Michigan. Dr. Hopper directed the Internal Medicine Residency and Addiction Medicine Fellowship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor from 2008 to 2015. From 2015 to 2020, Dr. Hopper was a Field Representative for the Clinical Learning Environment Review of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education. He is clinically active in both internal medicine and addiction medicine through Integrated Health Associates (IHA) where his is the current Associate Program Director for the Fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Saint Joe’s Ann Arbor and Director of the Chemical Dependency Unit at Saint Mary Mercy Livonia.
