Dr. Tiffany Champagne-Langabeer is an Associate Professor at McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Champagne-Langabeer is the co-investigator of the Houston Emergency Opioid Engagement System (HEROES), a national clinical trial providing comprehensive treatment for individuals suffering from opioid use disorder. The program is a collaborative partnership with the Houston Fire Department, Houston Police Department, Houston Recovery Center, and the Memorial Hermann Hospital. Dr. Champagne-Langabeer focuses on the program’s health policy and informatics components.
Dr. Champagne-Langabeer’s past work and educational training has focused in the transformation of healthcare through collaboration and joint venture by managing processes, modifying behaviors, and collecting data for outcomes research. She has taught courses in management and leadership over the past 13 years and holds both master’s and doctoral degrees focused on theories of management and leadership behaviors. In 2012, she served as the Vice President of Operations for a large, regional health information exchange which served over 200 healthcare organizations. In this role, she was responsible for obtaining contracts, negotiating and securing vendors, managing the scope of work for multiple ongoing projects, and creating a sustainability plan for the organization. Doing this work, Dr. Champagne-Langabeer led teams working under strict deadlines to implement complex technical and policy constrained projects. Currently, Dr. Champagne-Langabeer serves on the eHealth Advisory Council for the state of Texas as the expert in telemedicine and provides policy recommendations for the use of health technology in the Medicaid population to Department of Health and Human Services.
Champagne-Langabeer is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
